I have never used the cloud backups to restore any data. If they go out of business now I got my money's worth. I bought it when StackSocial had a big coupon code so I paid $48/16 months = $3 per month so far and decreasing every month that they stay in business. I've been using PolarBackup 5TB for 16 months now. When I bought it they didn't have the reputation that they have now. I'd only use these if my backups caught on fire and I work in front of my machines all day, every day.ĭo you find its worth hopping between trigger-happy "lifetime" services as opposed to subscribing annually to one quality service and sticking with it? Genuinely curious. These are basically backups to my physical backups. After they shut me down I used another lifetime deal Polar Backup. Personally I used it more as a backup for my backups. Or if you encrypt everything on the way to them. if someone disagrees do your own test.It might work for your purposes. yes, I uploaded a copyrighted file, I need to receive a notice from the owner with enough information, but I did not receive any notice. almost all of these 5 star reviews are fake. they say they don't block files for sharing many, but it's not true, and they say they block files for copyright, it's false, because the files I tested are my files. all these downloads decrease only 33GB within 2TB. a few hours later they blocked the file link, i contacted customer support to know why this happened, they say the file has been blocked due to copyright, not true, i came to trustpilot to read the experience of Icedrive users, there are many positive comments and few negative ones, in the negative comment I see some comments say that Icedrive blocks files when it has many downloads, that's why I have done a test, I uploaded a 1.5GB file and shared it with more than 300 people, suddenly they blocked all my files, new upload and old. I am uploading files to share with other people, on I bought a plan for 5 dollars a month, 1 TB of storage and 2 TB of bandwidth, a few days later I uploaded a file that weighs more than 1GB and I shared it with my friends. somewhere!ĭo not use this service, it is a big scamĭo not use this platform to store your files, it is a scam. I think I will just need to keep doing what I'm doing. I sometimes think about starting a new backup from scratch, but since my original backup removed folders from my system. by maintaining the same folder/file tree. But my previous backup service made it easy for me. But digging into the backup, I've learned that I CAN find my missing folders and files. They ARE there. My original Icedrive backup scattered my folders to different locations on Icedrive. This is the basis of my negative comment. But I DO feel confident that when I can't find a folder on my laptop, which has happened often since I backed up my system with Icedrive, I will eventually find it on Icedrive. I have only been with Icedrive a few months. And I say this because of my need to make a negative comment about Icedrive's methodology. As it was the lure of this in their road map that brought me to icedrive. Once end to end encryption becomes standard I will come back here and provide 5 stars. Also the android app is very slow with streaming video and sometimes won't stream at all. Hopefully you can share encrypted files as standard when this rolls out also. Hopefully they achieve this as once that's happened I truly believe it will be the best service in the industry. I have messaged and asked them if they still plan to fully end to end encrypt the service by the end of 2022 as this was stated in their road map before they removed their road map and they responded to my support ticket saying yes, they still plan to have end to end encryption as standard by 2022. I've had the lifetime 1tb plan for a year. And not giving back money, even though you cannot deliver, tells the rest. On the Mac App Store, your 'app' gets 2.2 out of 5. Reply: Why would I want to join a beta tester group? And as a paying customer? I want a reliable backup service. So, look elsewhere for your Mac backup needs. It costed me money and many, many hours of doing things by hand while waiting for the app to be released. After well over 1.5 year waiting I asked my money back, which they now refuse ‘because 1.5 year is too long a period’. That promise was removed soon after my purchase, but was continued in their responses. I bought an IceDrive lifetime subscription because of the promise on their site that a Mac app was in development and would be released soon. Despite the suggestive texts on the site. As a Mac user, the only thing you can do with IceDrive is drag & drop folders and documents in a web interface.
